Factor Xa is involved in blood coagulation cascade. Factor Xa is a protease which can convert prothrombin into thrombin by catalyzing the cleavage of prothrombin. Factor Xa inhibitors can be antithrombotic drug because thrombin is a key enzyme in thrombosis and hemostasis and the generation of thrombin depend on factor Xa.
